In terms of the number of meals consumed out of home, the Netherlands has one of the highest levels in Europe. When the Dutch eat out of home, particularly at midday, they mostly tend to eat a snack rather than a full meal. This happens in both the commercial and social foodservice sectors and means that the average cost of an out-of-home meal is relatively low, especially when compared to that of the Southern European countries….
