GIRA Foodservice has been updating every 4 years a multi client market study about the structure of the Foodservice Market in Spain. The new version has been published in April 2016 and gives an overview of the Foodservice market in Spain based on 2015/2016 key facts & figures as well as historical series from 2012, 2014 to 2015 and future trends up to end of 2016 and 2020.
The aim of the study is to provide information on:
In 2015, the Spanish foodservice market represented a total value of around 28,8 billion euros and the service of over 4,5 billion meals and snacks.
In terms of sales, around 613 euros were spent in 2015 on eating out of home per inhabitant. 86% of the total value were generated by the commercial foodservice market.
The meals which were consumed out of home represented around 13% of all meals eaten by Spanish people, i.e. around 96 meals and snacks per year per inhabitant, which gives another ratio of around 1,9 meal per week.
Key figures about food purchases by segments in the foodservice market in Spain are also provided: the commercial foodservice sector was generating over 80% of the total amount of food purchases in the foodservice market.
In the new study, by considering future trends up to the end of 2016 and 2020 in both the social and commercial foodservice sectors, some segments will evolve on a more dynamic rhythm than other ones depending on a number of factors influencing the market….
